Day 2 - Wednesday 19 November

We started the day with an excellent buffet breakfast and then killed time until it was time to check-out pf the Maid's Head.  Some of our group had a walk into town or to say "hello" to Paddington.

Once on the coach we set off on the 90-minute drive to Thursford.  When we arrived, we found ourselves in a Disney-like wonderland.  First stop was a bite to eat in the café where we had some amazing mulled wine.  The shops were quite busy so we skipped them and went straight into the auditorium which was a real joy -,full of lights,  snowmen, reindeer, steam traction engines, a carousel (which we weren't allowed on ☹️) and a Dutch organ (but it wasn't playing).

We found our seats and the show started and what a spectacular show it was! There were wonderful singers and musicians, fantastic dancers, acrobats, speciality acts, etc.  It really made us feel festive, even if it was November. All too soon the show ended and we came out to find it was dark and the grounds were now beautifully illuminated.

The journey home didn't seem too long and we were soon safely back after a most enjoyable couple of days.  So after a gap of 40 years would we do another coach trip? 100% yes.  The coach was very comfortable,  Lee, our driver, was excellent and so obliging, the hotel was lovely and well situated,  the show was indeed a 'Christmas Spectacular' and at £218 all in it was unbelievably good value. All that, together with the company of some of our wonderful Rockie friends, made for a brilliant time.
